In one tragic moment in December, 2011, everything changed for 16-year-old, professional freestyle skier Jake Hickman. While skiing in a top-level competition in Colorado, he lost control and crashed, suffering a severe spinal injury that resulted in paralysis in his legs, and left him wondering if he would ever walk again, let alone ski.

Determined to shred again, Hickman used the TRX Suspension Trainer to rebuild lower body and core strength during his intense rehab. Just a year later, Hickman has come back to rejoin the U.S. Freestyle Ski Team.

TRX recently worked with the High Fives Foundation, a non-profit organization that helps winter action sport athletes like Hickman who have suffered life-altering injuries, taking their team through a TRX Sports Medicine workout. Hickman credits the Foundation immensely for supporting him throughout his recovery.

Watch this inspirational video about Hickman’s comeback and see how TRX Training helped provide his lift ticket to recovery and a triumphant return to the slopes.
