Director of Rip Training Pete Holman recently teamed up with Isaiah Truyman from EZIA Human Performance to talk about their favorite exercises for developing power.

Truyman’s choice, the snatch, develops a tremendous amount of power and you can find it being performed in gyms of elite athletes everywhere. However, the snatch has its limitations and does not aid in developing rotational power, a key component of sports performance. As Truyman states in the video, “I can’t think of one sports movement that’s explosive and doesn’t have rotation. It’s never perfectly linear.”

For this reason, Holman prefers the TRX Rip 90° Jump Press. This exercise improves speed and agility, as well as rotational power and leaves your core torched.

To perform:

  • Stand sideways to the anchor point with the Rip Trainer at your chest.
  • Jump 90 degrees away from anchor point while pressing the bar off your chest.
  • Perform for 30 seconds at high speed, rest for 30 to 60 seconds and then repeat on the opposite side.
