Infantry Training Battalion, School of Infantry West
In an effort to find the optimal tool for maintaining peak operational readiness while in a challenging school-house training environment, the Infantry Training Battalion, School of Infantry West conducted a study of 200 Marines who used the TRX FORCE Kit as their primary source of physical training and compared it to a group of Marines who used the standard “free-range” physical training methods. The group that used the TRX FORCE Kit showed far better results than that of the control group.
“Results from this study indicate that the TRX FORCE Kit demonstrates significant functional fitness advantages in comparison to standard free-range training.”
Infantry Training Battalion School of Infantry‐West,
The demands of the Marines require that they maintain top physical form for combat and life at all times. However, Marines often find themselves deployed in situations where finding the time and space to execute a workout is somewhere between challenging and impossible. The Infantry Training Battalion wanted to see if the TRX Tactical Suspension Trainer offered a better solution than the “free-range” physical training already in use.
For a 59-day training cycle, 200 Marines exclusively used the TRX Tactical Suspension Trainer as their primary form of physical training and were given baseline testing at the beginning and end of the cycle. Their results were compared to a “control” group of 800 Marines whose physical training remained unchanged.
Across the board, the experimental group using the TRX FORCE Kit out-performed the control group by a margin of 17 points on the Marine Corps PFT. Not only did the TRX Tactical Suspension Trainer work, but it worked better than the previous program used for physical training.
