Road to Recovery: Randy's Rehab on the TRX

WARNING: This video contains graphic scenes. Viewer discretion is advised.

Anyone with a TRX Movement this intense either possesses super human strength... or feels he has something to prove (if only to himself).

As a former Navy SEAL, TRX Creator Randy Hetrick can safely claim greater athletic prowess than the rest of the population, but when an unexpected injury sidelined him in the fall of 2009, he found himself in a foreign place, unable to rely on the strength reserves he'd carefully cultivated over the years.

In the first video in our series chronicling Randy's injury and resultant rehab, we found out about the blow that leveled the man ("like a wrecking ball" according to Randy). In part two (above), we watch Randy take the first tentative steps on the road to recovery following surgery to repair his biceps tendon.

With the help of physical therapists Chris Chorak and Erica Moody at Presidio Sports & Medicine in San Francisco, Randy started working with the TRX Suspension Trainer, which allowed him to isolate his injury while still providing a much-needed challenge to the rest of his body.

After weeks of hard work and perseverance, at the end of the video, Randy receives his report card: it's good bye sling, and hello to swimming and cycling... and impromptu dancing.

For all you physical therapists out there, TRX will be at the 2011 Combined Sections Meeting for APTA in New Orleans on February 8-9. Make sure to stop by booth #122 to experience first hand how TRX training is a safe, scalable and effective functional training solution that’s portable and affordable for clinics and patients home use.
