You may have seen the famous (and a bit intimidating) TRX handstand done before, but trust us when we say it takes practice to get there. TRX Instructor Kristine Balderston will show you how to prep your body to ease into the TRX handstand with confidence.
TRX Mountain Pose
Adjust your TRX Suspension Trainer to mid-length and start standing facing the anchor point. Place your palms into the foot cradles, hands at navel height, with your feet together and big toes touching. Begin the movement by reaching your arms overhead (palms rotate in foot cradles facing the anchor point when overhead) and stack your hands over your shoulders. Return by keeping tension in the straps and rotating your hands in the foot cradles to bring your arms back to the starting position. Make sure to keep an active plank throughout and don’t forget to breathe!
TRX Warrior III
From TRX Mountain Pose, you can flow right into TRX Warrior III. Begin the movement by anchoring your left foot and hinging towards the anchor point while extending your right leg behind you. Make sure to keep a soft bend in your left standing leg and square your hips to the ground. Return by pressing your hands into the foot cradles, driving your left heel into the floor and extending your hips to stand up.
Flow through these two movements 3-5 times and then switch sides. These two movements are not only great for shoulder and hip mobility, but also for overall body awareness as you prep for kicking up into a TRX handstand.
