TRX Training Tip from Brian Stann

Happy Holidays! TRX athlete, UFC Fighter and former Marine, the “All American” Brian Stann (above) challenges you to wake up early today and get your workout in before the holiday madness begins. For inspiration, check out Stann’s favorite TRX workout below.

Warm Up:

Perform 10 to 15 reps of each exercise, with no rest, for a total of three rounds.

  • TRX Squat Row
  • TRX Mid Row
  • TRX Single Leg Squat

Round 1:

Perform six to 10 reps of each exercise, with no rest, for a total of three rounds.

  • TRX Lunge
  • TRX Low Row
  • TRX Atomic Push-up

Round 2:

Perform five reps of each exercise with no rest, for a total of three rounds.

  • TRX Standing Rollout
  • TRX Push-up
  • TRX Hamstring Curl
  • TRX Chest Fly

Now if you want to mix it up and add a high intensity cardio challenge, grab both your Rip Trainer and your Suspension Trainer and try Stann’s favorite fusion workout. Perform 30 seconds of exercise combo and then rest for 30 seconds before moving onto the next combo. Go through four rounds of each combo before moving onto the next.

  • TRX Squat Row to Rip Overhead Pull
  • TRX Chest Fly to Rip Punch
  • TRX Single Leg Squat to Rip Jump Squat
  • TRX Lateral Row to Rip Overhead Punch (with Pivot)

When it comes to the dinner table, Stann suggests using a little common sense; find lower calorie options and go big on protein (“eat all the turkey you want, just utilize a low calorie dressing”). Avoid the heavy carbs (that means cornbread, cornbread stuffing, cornbread muffins and cornbread pudding), while trying to fill up on veggies and “leave the starches for everyone else.” Says Stann, “It’s ok to eat a lot of whatever holiday you are celebrating, but that’s no excuse to stuff yourself the entire season.”

Stann also has some advice if you can’t get out of the house or you’re stuck in a hotel room. “Use the TRX Door Anchor,” says Stann. “It’s ideal for moms. My wife loves it. She can work out using our front door while watching the kids. I use it in my hotel rooms when I am on the road traveling. Most hotels have very poor workout facilities, making my TRX second to my toothbrush on my travel priority list.”

Stann does all of his TRX workouts on his new TRX Tactical Suspension Trainer, available when you buy the new TRX FORCE Kit: Tactical. There is enough here to keep you busy and trim through the holiday season, so this holiday there are no excuses.
