It only took one training session to convince UFC Welterweight Jake Shields that TRX could improve his performance in the Octagon. That session happened to be an intense, combat-inspired workout at TRX HQ with Pete Holman, former US National TaeKwon-Do champion and inventor of the Rip Trainer.
“At first I wasn’t quite sure if I’d like it because I’ve tried a lot of workout machines. But I got on it and started feeling the way it swings and works the core. I was really impressed,” said Shields. He also immediately appreciated the Rip Trainer’s ability to develop power and explosiveness, key proficiencies for MMA.
The former Strikeforce and Elite XC champion now integrates both TRX Suspension Training and Rip Training into his two-to-three daily workout sessions. His training encompasses conditioning, weight training, grappling sessions like wrestling or Jiu jitsu and then hard sparring.
