We refer to the TRX Education Journey as a “journey” for several reasons, starting with the structure and progression. To use an analogy, think of a your most recent travel excursion, you likely chose to visit destinations in some sort-of a sensical order for the sake of time, money, and sanity. For instance, if you were driving across country from West to East, you would obviously go to the Grand Canyon before heading to Gettysburg. Similarly, with the TRX Education Journey, the courses have been painstakingly thought out and specifically designed with the intention that you should follow an itinerary.
Before we jump into it, you should know that the TRX Education Journey is so much more than you might think. We describe it as a progressive curriculum based on a series of Foundational Movements. Translation: we are going to give you the tools you need to master movement, which basically means that you’re going to become a better coach regardless of the outside conditions. In other words, whether you’re doing PT or group; working with an elderly person or a pro athlete; doing bodyweight training or olympic lifting, if you follow the TRX Education Journey in the order that it was designed, you’re going to be leagues ahead of most of your peers, no matter the setting. We promise.
MAPPING THE JOURNEY:
STEP 1: The TRX Suspension Training Course (STC)
If you had to take one course over the whole of your fitness career, we would recommend it to be the TRX Suspension Training Course. The STC often gets mistaken for one that simply goes over how to use the TRX Suspension Trainer, our flagship product, but the value of this course lies in its coverage of the foundational movements (aka movement-based training). The TRX Suspension Trainer is the most eloquent tool for delivering this valuable methodology. In the STC, attendees do learn the fundamentals of Suspension Training, but perhaps more importantly, they learn the foundational movement standards, which will help them coach better in any setting. This course will also touch on cueing techniques to better engage and connect with clients. Bottom line: the Suspension Training Course is the essential starting point whether you have no experience or you are a seasoned vet. Don’t skip this course!
STEP 2: The TRX Functional Training Course (FTC)
Keep in mind that every course in the TRX Education Journey will review key learnings from the pervious course and then expand on those lessons accordingly. This is why we highly recommend that you take them in the order listed here. For instance, in the Functional Training Course, attendees review what they learned in the Suspension Training Course - foundational movement standards using the Suspension Trainer - and progress from there by learning how to incorporate different types of functional training tools such as Battle Ropes, Kettlebells, Medicine Balls, and more. Overall, attendees will walk away from the FTC with the ability to recognize incorrect movement patterns, and know how to correct those patterns with quick and effective cues that their clients will understand. Lastly, attendees will be able to build functional training circuit style workouts that can be applied to personal or group training, using any piece of equipment.
STEP 3: The TRX Group Training Course (GTC)
Coaching groups can be a challenge. You’re dealing with a whole slew of factors from varying levels of fitness and coordination, to correcting faults without making someone feel singled out. It’s no easy task. The TRX Group Training Course, the third step in the TRX Education Journey, will show you how to confidently approach many of these factors through effective communication and cueing. Furthermore, the GTC will show you how to challenge and lead groups without compromising that one-on-one vibe achieved in personal training. Attendees will walk away with two group workout formats: TRX Fit & TRX Strong.
STEP 4: The TRX Advanced Group Training Course (AGTC)
The TRX Advanced Group Training Course is our Certification Level course - the pinnacle of the TRX Education Journey. This two-day course is intense, but so worth it. The AGTC is the place where you get the recipe to the secret sauce, so to speak; it’s where we pull back the curtain and show you how this stuff really works. Rather than giving you workout templates, we actually show you how to create them (although we will give you some bootcamp templates as well) using what we call the TRX Programming Lenses. Basically, this is the course that is going to make you the badass trainer that everyone looks up to. Amongst many other things, graduates of the AGTC will walk away with the ability to create programs based on science and best practices and then deliver those programs in the most effective and purposeful way, creating top-level experiences for their clients.
