12 Years In, and TRX Is the Reason Clients Show Up

12 Years In, and TRX Is the Reason Clients Show Up

TRX Training Some studio owners chase the next trend. One gym built the business on the suspension trainers and the PoweredBy TRX partnership. For over 12 years, Beth Huffstetler has run her gym solo: teaching weights, boxing, step aerobics, pickleball, and everything in between. But ask her what's kept clients coming back for over a decade, and the answer is immediate. "TRX has always been the mainstay and the biggest attraction for all of my clients," she says. Growing Beyond a One-Woman Show After more than a decade of doing it all herself, she reached a turning point familiar to a lot of independent gym owners: how do you grow without losing what makes your studio yours? "I wanted to grow, add coaches, and streamline all of my administrative processes so that I could begin to think about passing the studio on to the next owner." TRX became the foundation for that next chapter, not just a class on the schedule, but the throughline that could scale with her. From One Class to a Full System TRX has always been the hub of her programming. But bringing it in more deliberately opened the door to build around it: A class dedicated entirely to TRX foundations A YBell class A Circuit class modeled after the TRX Ignite Games If Huffstetler pulled TRX out of her studio tomorrow, she says without hesitation, “Most of my clients would leave!” Meeting Every Body, Every Age Her clients skew older (many in their 60s, 70s, and 80s), and that's exactly where TRX shines. "TRX is absolutely the best modality to scale to every fitness level. I love it because it can be used effectively with the most elite athlete, and with someone who is rehabilitating a particular joint or area of their body." It's not just about the members. The TRX Training System has sharpened her own coaching, and her entire team. "It has helped me hone my coaching skills, stay true to the basics of TRX and the foundational movements, and be able to meet every client at their current fitness level." Nancy's Story Twelve years ago, Nancy walked into one of the very first classes ever taught at the studio, a stretching class, before TRX Yoga even existed. Afterward, she approached the instructor: the stretches had hurt her back. That moment said everything about how weak her core was, and how little she understood about protecting it. Nancy stuck with it. Today, she still shows up three days a week, and every year, she sends a card thanking her coach for teaching her how to build and use her core. Now 74, Nancy takes a variety of classes with confidence, strength, and zero pain. She keeps up with her grandkids. She does yard work. She plays pickleball. The Support Behind the Scenes Running a studio solo for over a decade means a lot of figuring things out alone. What changed the game wasn't just the equipment; it was having someone in her corner. "Having a singular contact person at TRX headquarters has made a huge difference. As a small studio owner, I often felt like I was all alone. Now I feel that I do have a way to get assistance tailored for my studio when and if I need it," Huffstetler said. Why TRX, In Her Words Ask her what she'd tell another gym owner weighing whether TRX is worth it, and she doesn't hesitate: "TRX is truly the best modality for any level of participant. Putting TRX in your gym will allow you to offer top-level fitness to every single age group. You can't get much better results than that. Not only is it good for revenue, but it is good for what we're supposed to be good at: changing people's lives for the better." Not many gyms in her area offer TRX, and that uniqueness, paired with a system her whole team can coach with confidence, is exactly what's kept her studio thriving for over a decade.
